Hey everybody,

It’s January 1 and I’m giving my blog a face lift. After nearly ten years of blogging, my perspective and season of life has really changed. So a change to my blog seemed due.

Moving away from the old theme has been a gradual, natural transition. For one, it’s been two and a half years since I moved out of state, and almost four since I moved out of the house. For another, this blog is no longer a family journal or scrapbook. It’s less about life in a big family in the south and more about life in general.

So then, where did I get the new name? The story behind that, if indeed you can call it a story, comes from the last couple years where “journey” has become a regular theme for nearly every spectrum of my life . . . the geographical journey to Michigan; the spiritual journey to better understand who God is; the emotional journey to find joy in life, even in the little things; the physical journey toward good health again . . . just to name a few.

In all of this I’m learning that life is full of both pleasures and pain, happiness and hardship, ups and downs. And whatever God sends me I’m to embrace as a gift from Him–for my growth, for His glory. So on this journey we call life, whether taking in mountaintop views or viewing a mountain for the taking, I’m on the search for joy. I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. (Phil. 3:12)

So there you have it. A new name and a new look for a new year. And in case you missed it, I also have a new web address (leannashepard.com) to keep things simple. You may see some additional changes in the coming days or weeks as I continue to spruce things up a bit, so check back in soon!
