What a comfort to know and reflect on God’s omniscience, His ability to know all, do all, and be all. He sees my load and carries it for me.
Isa. 40 uses words like “comfort”, “tenderly”, and “gentle” to describe our loving God. He sees and cares. He knows and acts. All who are weary can come to Him for rest. He is never frazzled or harried. He is Prince of peace.
When laiden with worries or cares, the answer is to “behold your God!” Verses 27-29 is a gentle rebuke for doubting God’s goodness or compassion. As if God didn’t see your distress! “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.”
God is never overwhelmed and never loses control or forgets a detail. He never grows tired or impatient. His ways are perfect and unsearchable, far above our own. Glory be!
And this word of encouragement becomes even more personal a few verses down in chapter 41 when God Himself speaks: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
How’s that for a word of comfort!
