I have been in Michigan three weeks now and yet have failed to give a good update on here! So far it has been a wonderful experience, and it’s hard to believe it’s already been three weeks! The weather is simply gorgeous up here! (Don’t ask me again in January though–ha!)

One evening I had an errand near Lake Michigan and stopped at a park for a few minutes just to enjoy the view of the lake at dusk! (You have to stay out late to catch the sunset–it’s still bright as day at 9pm!! And I hear that only gets later the further into summer you go! Good grief!)

I was amazed to discover that you can see the top of the Sears Tower (now Willis) on a clear day! In fact, even on this overcast day, I could make out a shadowy figure across the water! There was a middle-aged couple with a telescope there, so I worked up the courage to introduce myself so I could get a look! The husband was more than happy to show me and give me a nice long talk about the quality of telescopes and binoculars. =)

These beautiful peonies welcomed me on my first day of work! For my first week in the office, I had the opportunity to jump right into the swing of things. We had an all-day radio recording session that first Thursday with guest speaker Mary Kassian, where I was able to get an idea of what my responsibilities as “Hospitality & Administrative Assistant” would look like. I’ve done a variety of things since, which suits me well, and so far I’m loving it!

On my first trip here a year ago, I remember several folks telling me what a unique work environment it was here…How everyone lived life together, not just worked together. How they worked hard but laughed hard. How there were no lone rangers, but everyone worked as a team. And how there was much grace to be found… I have found all that to be so true!

My new friend and co-worker, Hannah, on the far left, and our supervisor, Sandy, in the center, two wonderful sisters-in-Christ I’m privileged to work alongside.

It is such a blessing to have the peace of knowing you are right in the center of God’s will!
