Monday Morning Melody

This post has been delayed due to a busy morning, no internet access, a busy afternoon, and still no internet access. It’s now evening, and things have cleared up, and so has the internet. So here we go.

There’s not a particular hymn I’ve had in mind for today, or one that I’ve been humming or singing. And since Fannie Crosby is definitely one of my all-time favorite hymn writers, it’s easy for me to revert to one of her hymns for my Monday pick. I’ve featured several of hers before, but here is one I haven’t.

Jesus, keep me near the cross,
There a precious fountain
Free to all, a healing stream
Flows from Calvary’s mountain.

In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever;
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.

Near the cross, a trembling soul,
Love and mercy found me;
There the bright and morning star
Sheds its beams around me.

Near the cross! O Lamb of God,
Bring its scenes before me;
Help me walk from day to day,
With its shadows o’er me.

Near the cross I’ll watch and wait
Hoping, trusting ever,
Till I reach the golden strand,
Just beyond the river.
