Last night the local news reported a crime that they described as “truly unthinkable” and “a tragedy”.
The crime? The murder of a baby.
They are right. Killing a baby truly is unthinkable. It is a devastating tragedy. I can’t imagine why anyone would choose to do such a thing.
But why is it only unthinkable if it’s done outside the womb? And why is it ok–legal–to choose murder if it is inside?
If life were truly valued, it would be protected from the start.
Today the Arkansas House & Senate voted into law the unborn child protection act, overriding our governor’s veto. This bill-now-made-law prohibits abortions after 20 weeks, the time which is scientifically proven a baby can feel pain. This is definitely a HUGE step forward for Arkansas, but it can’t stop there!
If we valued life at 12 weeks after conception the same way we do 12 weeks after birth, this law would be the equivalent of saying “Don’t worry–I’m going to numb the pain before I shoot you!” Nobody would put their stamp of approval on that.
I am praying for the day that Roe v. Wade is overturned; that America will wake up to the injustice that is happening within the safest environment a baby can be in; and for a President, Congress and Supreme Court that recognizes the much greater destruction the abortion industry has had in America than assault weapons.
Do the unthinkable and pray for revival.
