After a wonderful weekend of listening to Leslie & Eric Ludy speak on the set-apart life (via simulcast), I couldn’t think of a better hymn to ponder as I step into the new week. It is such a simple, sweet prayer for a life devoted to Christ; for an open heart and teachable spirit; and for strength and endurance in this life. Join me in this prayer for a pure heart.

Purer in heart, O God, help me to be;
May I devote my life wholly to Thee:
Watch Thou my wayward feet,
Guide me with counsel sweet;
Purer in heart, help me to be.

Purer in heart, O God, help me to be;
Teach me to do Thy will most lovingly;
Be Thou my friend and guide,
Let me with Thee abide;
Purer in heart, help me to be.

Purer in heart, O God, help me to be;
Until Thy holy face one day I see:
Keep me from secret sin,
Reign Thou my soul within;
Purer in heart, help me to be.
