I’m not one to keep up with celebrities or the latest trends and gossip, but I couldn’t not notice all the hoopla and news coverage of Prince William & Kate Middleton’s wedding. It was everywhere I turned–even the grocery store! Thank goodness they finally got married today!

But I discovered something good from all this after all: it made me stop and think of THE royal wedding that will take place some day. The setting will be even more spectacular than Westminster Abbey or Buckingham Palace, for it will be bright and dazzling with jewels and gold and a sea of glass!

What’s more, the bride will be more beautiful and pure than ever before or any other before, because she is all glorious within, and her Designer has made her ready.

But the most amazing part of this wedding will be that for once the focus won’t be on the bride, but on the bridegroom! He is the perfect Husband, a Lion with the heart of a Lamb, the Conquering Victor, yet the Prince of Peace.

And last, I read a verse from James yesterday that made me think of yet one more correlation–the fact that someone of royal blood, heir to the throne, chose a “commoner” to be his bride. We, too, had One of royal blood, Heir to THE throne, choose US!

“Listen, my beloved brethren: Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?” (Jas 2:5)

He chose us. Before the foundation of the earth. To be heirs with Him forever.

In the words of Princess Catherine, “Oh wow.”

I’d much rather be a princess in the Heavenly Kingdom than in the United Kingdom.

Now, at the risk of doing what I just criticized, I do have one last thought about the royal wedding itself.

Confession time: I’ll admit it, I did watch part of the recap on the news (curiosity got the best of me), and I would like to say that I absolutely loved her dress and was pleasantly surprised! I hope it becomes the new fashion for wedding dresses.

And that’s all I have to say. =)
